8th Grade Fly-Up Night – Friday, September 19 @ CHS / Noche de Fly-Up de 8º grado – Viernes, 19 de septiembre @ CHS

Attention, 8th-grade HDMS band students! The following message is an invitation from Mr. Hymans, band director at Caldera High School. This event is optional, but I hope we can pack the stands with as many future Wolfpack students as possible (you are welcome to come even if you are not planning to attend Caldera High School next year). I will be there playing my trumpet! – Mrs. Owen

Greetings, future Wolfpack Band Family Member!

This invite goes out to any current 8th-grade band student who plans on continuing in band at Caldera HS next year. We would love to have you join us for an evening of pizza and pep band so you can see what that experience will be like at high school. Here are the details:

  • Call time is 6pm at the Caldera HS Band Room. Enter at the east entrance (by the auditorium) and follow the signs to the band room.
  • Bring your instrument! Play whatever you can with us – don’t worry about playing everything (or really at all) – we just want you there with us!
  • Wear clothing to be comfortable until around 9:30 outside, and school colors (navy/orange) if possible. Make sure you are prepared for the forecast.
  • Bring a water bottle – we’ll be out in the stadium for around 3 hours. There are concessions available during the game – you provide your own $$.
  • Pizza will be available in the band room by 5:45 (it’s ok to show up early!), we warm up around 6:15, and head out to the stadium shortly after that.
  • Percussionists don’t need to bring anything – we’ll have drums and sticks for you (though you can bring your own snare sticks if you like).
  • The band plays from pre-game through the end of the 1st half. Students get a break for the 3rd quarter, then are back to play the 4th quarter.
  • I can’t predict exactly when the game will end, but it is usually between 9:15-9:30. You are welcome to leave whenever, but make sure you have a ride lined up!

HERE is a link to a folder with the music we’ll be playing. I will have extra copies for you here, but you are welcome to print it out yourself to look at before the event. Notes on the music:

  • SSB = Star Spangled Banner – we will only play this once.
  • Go Wolfpack Go = School fight song – we’ll play this a LOT!
  • Band Chants = short things we play between downs – we play a lot. 
  • Shout/Hey – we will only play The Hey Song, which starts a bit more than halfway through where it says to swing.

I hope to see many of you at the game – we’ll make a lot of noise and have a lot of fun!

¡Atención, estudiantes de 8º grado de la banda de HDMS! El siguiente mensaje es una invitación del Sr. Hymans, director de la banda en la Escuela Preparatoria Caldera. Este evento es opcional, pero espero que podamos llenar las gradas con el mayor número de futuros estudiantes Wolfpack que sea posible (te invitamos a venir, incluso si no estás planeando asistir a la Escuela Preparatoria Caldera el próximo año). ¡Yo estaré allí tocando mi trompeta! – Sra. ¡Saludos, futuro miembro de la familia de la Banda Wolfpack!

Esta invitación es para cualquier estudiante de banda de 8º grado actual que planea seguir en la banda en la Escuela Preparatoria Caldera el próximo año. Nos encantaría que te unieras a nosotros para una noche de pizza y música de banda para animar el partido y para que puedas ver cómo será esa experiencia en la escuela preparatoria.

Aquí están los detalles:

  • La hora de llamada es a las 6 pm en el cuarto de banda de la Escuela Preparatoria Caldera. Entra por la entrada este (por el auditorio) y sigue los letreros que te lleven al cuarto de banda.
  • ¡Trae tu instrumento! Toca lo que puedas con nosotros y no te preocupes por tocar todo (o realmente nada). ¡Sólo queremos que estés ahí con nosotros!
  • Usa ropa para estar cómodo(a) hasta alrededor de las 9:30 afuera, y usa los colores de la escuela (azul marino/naranja) si es posible. Asegúrate de prepararte para el clima pronosticado.
  • Trae una botella de agua, ya que estaremos en el estadio aproximadamente 3 horas. Hay puestos de comida disponibles durante el partido y tú necesitas proveer tu propio $$.
  • Tendremos pizza disponible en el cuarto de banda a las 5:45 (¡está bien llegar temprano!), calentaremos alrededor de las 6:15 y saldremos al estadio después de eso.
  • Los percusionistas no necesitan traer nada, ya que tendremos tambores y baquetas para ti (aunque puedes traer tus propias baquetas si lo deseas).
  • La banda tocará desde antes del partido hasta el final del primer tiempo. Los estudiantes descansan durante el 3º cuarto y vuelven a tocar el 4º cuarto.
  • No puedo predecir con exactitud cuándo terminará el partido, pero suele ser entre las 9:15 y 9:30. Tú puedes irte cuando quieras, ¡pero asegúrate de obtener un transporte!

AQUÍ está un enlace de una carpeta con la música que vamos a tocar. Voy a tener copias extras para ti aquí, pero recomiendo que imprimas una para que la revises antes del evento. Notas sobre la música:

  • SSB = Star Spangled Banner – Sólo la tocaremos una vez.
  • Go Wolfpack Go = Canción de batalla de la escuela – ¡Tocaremos esta MUCHO!
  • Cantos de Banda = Cosas cortas que tocamos entre los “downs” – tocamos mucho.
  • Shout/Hey – Sólo tocaremos “The Hey Song”, la cual empieza un poco más de la mitad donde dice “swing”.
